I just got back this morning from being out of state , My father passed away on Tuesday August 23, 2005 at 12:40 in the afternoon. He took a nap after having his coffee and never woke up. For those that remember he had cancer (started in the prostate, then went into his bones and lastly ended up in his lungs…it just devoured him) and was in a wonderful hospice to relieve the pain that cancer gave him.
Myself, husband and kids drove non stop for 9 hours and got there that evening.
I had to make arrangements for my dad’s funeral, burial , pick a casket , well the whole works as my mom was in no condition to do so. Thankfully my dad was well organized knowing we would need the important paperwork to get his burial and all that it involves done. Everything was laid out from his Army discharge during WWII to the plot and insurance paperwork , it was so easy to find everything just waiting for me.
It was so hard to see him at the wake and even harder when they closed his casket and lowered him into the ground yesterday morning.I don’t even remember being led back into the limo as I just broke down, thankfully my husband was at my side and my kids had their adult cousins and their father’s family to attend to them.
As it is I will start my nightly vigil of lighting a candle with his photo on my alter to pray for him tonight. Please include him in your prayers and pray that my mom gets the strength and support she needs to go forward. They were married for over 45 years.
Thanks to all who in the past kept him and my family in your thoughts, if you can please say a prayer or invocation to him and us as we all are seriously missing him and know that he is no longer suffering and is with God.
Thanks

Oh I am sooo sorry to hear about your father. It is so hard to lose someone you love, especially a parent. I know there are no words I can say to ease your pain, but just know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
